Hi guys,

just looked up the Adolf Hitler site, and came across this sentence at the end of the first paragraph:

“Humanity needs to learn lessons about how to prevent such people from obtaining power.”

While I fully agree with this sentiment, I do not want to read this sort of sentence in a reference site.
I come here for the facts, no matter how distasteful.

Please keep the site and information free of any editorialisation, no matter how justified.

This might seem a strange thing to write, but reading this statement does not gel with the rest of the material and creates a sense of distortion.

Thank you,
Jill

Thank you, Tim, for your feedback. Your comment that Hitler was not elected is not entirely true. The Nazi party, of which he became the leader, did become the largest party through democratic elections, although not achieving an absolute majority. Nevertheless, Hitler, as leader of that party, was then appointed to the position of Chancellor. Although the way he achieved power was somewhat devious, and could be said to be an abuse of the democratic process, there still was a democratic process in place until after he had obtained a position of authority. Thus, it can be said that Hitler and his Nazi party initially gained power using the democratic electoral process.

Nonetheless, your point is well taken that the statement in the first section could be misleading. The text will be revised to clarify it.

Thank you again for taking the time to comment and to help make NWE a valuable information resource.
