The article misleadingly claims that finely peeled birch paper can ignite “with even the smallest of sparks.” Actually, because of the highly flammable oil content, it takes a higher temp source to ignite birch paper. But, once ignited, it will burn extrememly well.

Thank you. The article has been refined to more accurately state the nature of birch in this regard.
