In the biblical account of the creation of the earth the plural pronoun is used in Genesis 1:2 “Let US make man in OUR image.” If the biblical account was an attempt to make God montheistic ‘through and through’ then it would appear it was a failure. (Note: the attempt to reconcile the plainly multi-theistic writings with the invention of the belief in the ‘trinity’)
I would submit that implying that the bible was monotheistic through and through is misleading, and your statement implying so should require a caveat.
Thank you, Douglas, for your feedback. It is true that the plural is used in that one verse in Genesis, leading to possible interpretations such as God did not act alone but was aided by angels, that God was referring to multiple aspects of His own nature (male and female), and so forth.
The article does not actually state that the Bible was monotheistic through and through, only the Genesis creation story. Nevertheless, since it causes confusion the statement has been removed.
