The article on the great George Szell claims he led a Cleveland tout to Australia but that was never the case. He only visited Australia in 1938 and 1939 for the ABC and their orchestras in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane. The first Cleveland tours down under were in the early 70s under Leinsdorf and Skrowaczewski and separately Maazel.

You are correct, the Cleveland Orchestra’s first tour in Australia was after Szell’s death. His international tour in 1970 was to Asia, including Japan and Korea.
