I believe the chemical structure diagram for a general amino acid is wrong!!! The “R” side chain should be shown coming off the alpha-carbon atom; not off the amino group. This seems to be an obvious error and must have been a typo or oversight.

Thank you very much Robert. Indeed, there was a problem with the layout whereby the R and the H ended up too far to the left and thus appeared over the amino group. We have corrected this thanks to your diligence.
