Nice informatio,which is very useful for students
I had a student ask what group numbers were given to the inner transitions and I can’t seem to find an answer! Please help.
Thank you, Tanja, for your feedback. In answer to your question, the inner transition elements don’t have group numbers! They are located between Groups 3 and 4, and belong in Periods 6 and 7. They are known as the Lanthanoids (formerly Lanthanides) and Actinoids (formerly Actinides) due to their placement immediately following Lanthanum and Actinium respectively.
