In the first sentence, obedience is misspelled “obediance”.
Quite an enlightening article. Thank you.
After reading this article I must say that it must have been written by an unqualified person in the perspective of a non-muslim, like most articles on the Internet, and it needs to be written by a knowledgable Muslim please. There are more sentences that begin with “Muslims believe” rather than “In Islam” or “According to the Quran” because after all Islam is the way of life that Allah (SWT) has encouraged human beings to follow. In order to understand what Islam is one must first refer to the Quran because this is the source of Islam. If one does not understand something from the Quran then he or she should ask a knowledgable and/or qualified Muslim scholar or Muslim scholars of Islam for their opinions. There are many things Muslim believe and do that is not Islam. It is not right for the reader to think that what Muslims do or believe constitute what Islam is. Similarly it is not right to think what Americans do and believe constitute what the Constitution is. These two things Islam and Muslims (also Americans and the Constitution) are two separate things and one must not be confused with the other. Also please take out this sentence and others like it “Secular historians who explain Islam’s origin and success in terms of functionalist theory, saying that it provides societies with a moral framework and shared beliefs, may believe that Islam—like religions in general—was Muhammad’s invention.” What a secularist thinks of Islam has nothing to with this article and it especially has nothing to do with what Islam is. This sentence seems like the the author is alluding to that Islam is fake, and such negative thinking only leads to a biased article. Please I encourage and advise the author of this article that if you have any negative thinking of Islam and yet you want to write an unbiased article then let a qualified Muslim write this article instead or help you write it.
Thank You

As for the first Note, which I have just read, I would recommend you to confirm this. I can say that not all Shias are so. There are various sects of Shias. I myself am Sunni but I have some knowledge about sects of the Islam.
Thank you, Serhat, for your comment. I believe that you are correct that not all Shi’a Muslims reject predestination, although some sects do. The text will be revised appropriately.
Thank you again for taking the time to help make NWE a valuable information resource.
