The information provided is nice and is correct. But information regarding how buddhism born is missing. According to Pali Scriptures, Lord Mahaveer’s Mother was the sister of Buddha’s Mother. And Buddha remain nude and followed Jainism for 6 years. Later in love with a girl, he wasn’t able to control himself like jinas and gone in other parts of world and re-framed a new religion with the incredible concepts of Jainism and few of his own because he found that it may be possible that for a layman few principles of Jainism are hard to follow. Thus Buddhism is often referred to as the middle path, whereas jainism is referred to as the extreme path. But, in many Bodh Scriptures, a lot many appreciations are written for the most ancient religion jainism.. .

Thank you, Tanu jain, for your comment. It seems to me that our article does not state that anyone founded Jainism. However, I have tried to make that clearer. I made a small correction and our text now states that “The Jains believe that their faith has come down to them from antiquity through a series of 24 Tirthankaras, the earliest of whom was Rishabhanatha, whom Jain legends depict as having lived millions of years ago, and the most recent, Mahavira. Therefore Mahavira is not regarded as the founder of Jainism, but as the one who gave a new orientation to Jainism and shaped the modern faith.”

Thank you again for taking the time to help make NWE a valuable information resource.
