Hello,
Thanks so muchh for this very informative and helpful entry.
One question: I understood that the remains of Louis XVI and of Marie Antoinette are now kept in the mausoleum at Square Louis XVI in the 8th. How do you explain this conflicting info please?
Many thanks, in advance, for enlightening me on this.

Thank you for your comment. Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were originally buried in the Madeleine Cemetery in the eighth arrondissement of Paris, and then exhumed and buried in the Basilica of St Denis. The Madeleine Cemetery was closed and a chapel was constructed on the grounds. This is the “Chapelle expiatoire” and is dedicated to Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, and this is probably the location to which you are referring. Their remains are still at St Denis however.
