Dear Friends,

Will someone please give me the NAME of the MOTHER of Fatima bint Asad. Websites on the internet do not include the wife of ASAD ibn HASHIM for us to know the name of his daughter FATIMA’S MOTHER. One website shows the year 591 for the birth of Fatima bint Asad.

HASSAN the son of ALI is an ancestor of my mother’s father. Therefore I want to have the name of his grandmother, mother of his mother Fatima bint Asad.

Dear NWE,

I would like to thank you for the biography about prophet Muhammad and I really want to thank you for respecting the fact that no one in today’s world knows how the prophet looks like. And I want to thank you for choosing pictures that were not offensive to him or to Islam religion.

As a Muslim, I do have one thing to add..About Muhammad’s marriage to Aisha. She was not 9 when he chose her to be his future wife. From what I have read, Here is the math:
– Muhammad chose Aisha to be his future wife in year 620 (about 10 years after going to Medina)
– Aisha was born in year 606, which her age was 14 at the time Muhammad was looking to marry her.
– The end of the Hijri year of 623 and beginning of year 624, prophet Muhammad (pbuh)married Aisha and took her to his house where she became his wife. So that brings the total age of Aisha = 18 years old.

Sorry i misread it: Here is the correction:

– Prophet Muhammad chose Aisha to marry her in the future in year 620 (which was few years before migrating to Medina) and married her in year 624, which she was 18 years old.

Thank you Muhannad Hasan for your feedback. The age of Aisha at the time of her betrothal and marriage is indeed controversial. Her birth date is not clear, and usually calculated by referring to the date of her marriage which leads to her being born closer to 614.

As stated in the article, traditional sources state that she was only nine years old when the marriage was consummated. The NWE article does note that other sources suggest that she was older, and invites reader to study the article on Aisha which discusses this in greater detail. The suggested age of 14 at the time of marriage (18 when it was consummated) is included in that discussion.
