Nam June Paik spent part of his career at the Center for Media Study (SUNY-Buffalo) in the mid-1970s… I believe from about 1974 to 1979. I was a student there at the time and he was actively teaching and making video art. I recall there being concern for his safety at one point because he was trying to suspend television sets from a ceiling — and the university was very worried that they would fall on him. I have not seen any references to his time in Buffalo, but I know he was there and that he played an important part in the growing study of electronic media as an art form. The Vasulkas, Hollis Frampton and others were part of this program that was founded by Gerald O’Grady.
