While I was doing research on Ole Romer is said that he created the first mercury thermometer. This is incorrect. In fact Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit created this after visiting Ole Romer and seeing his own thermometer using an ice bath that was set to 0 and hot water that was set to 60. Fahrenheit added the idea of mercury and changed the temperatures to work for people.
Thank you, Skyler, for your comment. You are quite correct that Romer did not invent the mercury thermometer, only a temperature scale that was the precursor to Fahrenheit’s scale. I will revise the text of our article to correct this.
