Hi, the subtitle of Otto’s book is translated by harvey as “an inquiry…into the non-rational”, not the “irrational” as stated in the article. “Irrational” would seem to me to contradict Otto’s thesis.

Thank you, Shaiya, for your feedback. Interestingly, the sub-title in German is “Ãœber das Irrationale in der Idee des GÃ¶ttlichen und sein VerhÃ¤ltnis zum Rationalen” which would directly translate into English as “irrational” rather than “non-rational” as Harvey translated it. The text will be revised to clarify this.
