I noticed a grammatical mistake when I was reading the entry about Saturn in mythology. This is a common mistake and may occur in many of your entries. This is it: the past tense of the verb “to lead” in English is “led.” Example: Joe Biden now leads the United States. For the four previous years, Donald Trump led that nation. The past tense of “to lead” is not and never has been “lead.” That is a noun. It refers to a chemical element. Example: This book is as heavy as lead.
It would be awesome if the New World Encyclopedia could try to lead the new world in spelling the past tense of “to lead” correctly.
Thanks.
Thank you, Mary, for your comment.
I completely agree that the past tense of the verb “to lead” is “led”! Unfortunately, such mistakes do escape our proofreaders on occasion.
I will correct this one, and keep an eye out for others.
