The comment about Shangdi not relating to cosmogony is simply inaccurate. From as early as the 15th century BCE we have poetry attributing the creation of the 7 heavenly elements (the sun, moon, and 5 known planets) to Shangdi. The Song of Beginning Peace as a prime example, attributing Shangdi with the initial separation of the Yin and Yang, starting the creative work of the universe.
