This article fails to mention the fact Victor Turner was a conscientious objector in WWII. Turner’s pacifism was central to his views, and he proved it by refusing to kill German kids even when they were serving Hitler, choosing to dig up bombs instead. One wouldn’t write an article on Gandhi or John Lennon without mentioning their objections to war. The world needs to know that many great people, even in the past, did not support the madness of war — and since peace is in your subtitle, I’d think you’d want to emphasize this aspect of Turner’s life.
(In case it isn’t obvious, I’m his son, missing him on Father’s Day).
Sincerely,
Alex Turner
Thank you, Alex, for your feedback pointing out that important aspect of your father’s life. The article is being revised to include that information.
