In paragraph three under “Life” in your William Carlos Williams entry, we are told that Williams’ wife, Florence Herman, was his co-valedictorian at the Horace Mann School. The Horace Mann School that Williams attended in the early years of the 20th century was on 120th Street and Broadway, and to my knowledge was only a boys’ school. I don’t believe that “Flossie” Williams went to Horace Mann, and I’m pretty sure that Williams wasn’t valedictorian of his class. Sorry to sound so iffy, but I do suggest that more research has to be done in this regard. Many thanks, BZ
