1937, clipping of logogram or logotype, both from the Greek-based prefix logo- meaning word or speech.

  1. A visual symbol or emblem that acts as a trademark or a means of identification of a company or organization.
    I never knew the name of the company, but I remembered seeing the logo on album covers.
  2. An audio recording for the same purpose; a jingle.

  4. An ensign, a badge of office, rank, or power.
  5. (business, sales) A corporate customer.
